Department of Geography in 1968, offers UG and PG programs in Geography. We offer short term course Computer Application in Geography for instilling computing skills among the students. The Department has well qualified Teaching faculty including 04 Ph.D. and 03 NET/ SET qualified teachers. We have well-equipped Geography Laboratory having adequate number of computers, internet connectivity and GIS software.
We organized 2 international conference, 1 National Webinar, 2 University level revised syllabus workshops and 2 post graduate entrance examination workshops for the faculty development. The result of Geography subject at degree level is 100 per cent for three consecutive years. In the academic year 2021-22 five students of M.A.I appeared in the merit list of Shivaji University Kolhapur. The best practice of department is field visit.

Practical Laboratory
Geography laboratory plays a pivotal role in enriching geographical base of a student– a necessary part of learning that exposes students to full spectrum of disciplinary subfields- physical, human and nature-society geography as well as geographical techniques. - D.P. Bhosale College, Koregaon is an affiliated college to Shivaji University, Kolhapur (MS). The Department of Geography follows syllabi of the courses framed by Board of Studies in Geography of the said university. General Outcomes of the syllabus are as follows:
- To understand the scope and evolution of the diverse discipline of Geography.
- Recognize, synthesize and evaluate diverse sources of knowledge, arguments and approaches pertinent to exploring human-environment problems.
- An understanding and acknowledgment of the threats that endanger the earth’s natural systems.
- Development of knowledge, skills and holistic understanding of the discipline among students.
- Encouragement of scientific mode of thinking and scientific method of enquiry in students.
- Students become equipped with the ability to respond to both natural and man-made disasters and acquire management skills.
- Ability to undertake research in interdisciplinary studies and problems or issues beyond the realm of what strictly comes under the purview of geography.
Short Term Courses
Computers have revolutionized geography. Computer technology has opened new arenas of research, and allowed previously unthinkable computations. Computers streamlined record-keeping and introduced new methods in teaching geography. The spatial and pattern analyses made possible by computer technology has also facilitated interdisciplinary communication between geography and other fields of academic endeavor.

Guest Lectures, Expert Lectures
The Department of Geography organizes Guest Lectures/Expert Talks of the eminent scholars from other colleges to exchange the resourceful faculty and exploit their expertise in the topics such as Carrier Opportunities in Geography, Application of GIS and Remote Sensing in Geography etc. Besides, expert talks from the in-house faculty are also conducted on the specific occasion to celebrate the events like Geography Day. The main objective behind this activity is to motivate students for learning and staff for interacting with the experienced teachers.

Student Centered Activities
The Department of Geography organizes Student Centered Activities (SCA) for overall development of students. The classroom teaching of prescribed syllabi certainly provides students with conceptual knowledge and understanding of the topic. However, the student Centered activities of the department in still additional values among the students and inculcate required skills to compete in the corporate world and government sectors. Our student Centered activities include Short Term Course in Application of Computer in geography, organization of Guest/Expert Lectures, Lead College Workshops, Field Visits, Extension Activity –Publication of Wall-Papers, Organization of Quiz Contests, Preparation of students for participation in Avishkar Research Convention and Youth Festival Activities, Participation in Trade Fair Day Activities, Remedial Coaching for the Slow Learners, etc.
