The Department of Economics established in 1968, it offers UG & PG Programs in Economics. The Department caters the needs of industry, public and private sectors by creating skilled manpower to the regional demands of socio-economic development. The faculty is continuously involved in major, minor research projects and other funding agencies. The Department of Economics has been conducting various activities like Guest Lectures, Wallpapers, Expert lecture Series, Live budget session and Industrial Visits, Online Quizzes, Bank Visits, Field Visits etc. The Department has well qualified teaching faculty including 04 SET and 02 Ph.D. qualified teachers.
The Department runs a short-term course in Banking. It helps to create the financial awareness among students. We organized international Seminar, National Web- conference, University level revised syllabus workshop. The Best Practice of the department is ‘Discussion on Live Budget’ which is arranged for the students to acquire knowledge of new reforms in taxes, and provisions in various sectors.

Syllabus & Outcomes
D. P. Bhosale College, Koregaon is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur (MS). The Department of Economics follows syllabus of the courses framed by Board of Studies in Economics of the said university. General Outcomes of the syllabus are as follows:
- Students should be able to understand the significance & position of Indian Economy at the world level.
- Students acquire knowledge about inflationary trends and impact on Indian Economy.
- Students will be able to understand the recent developments in various sectors.
- Students will be able to use of various economic theories.
- The students will know how to determine factor prices and commodity prices.
- Students will be able to use E-Banking services and to help the students to understand the important recent trends in banking system.
Short Term Courses
The Department of Economics runs Short Term Course from 2017-18. The main objective of conducting this course becomes helpful for such students fetching jobs in the Banking Sector.
Objectives of Short Term Courses:
- To help the Students to understand the important recent trends in Indian
Economy. - To help students for competitive exams.
- To inculcate knowledge of various sector among the students.
- To acquire the practical and Professional knowledge.

Guest Lectures, Expert Lectures
The Department of Economics organizes Guest Lectures / Lecture Series of the expert from other reputed colleges. The main objective to organize these Lectures for students to provide career guidance and to enhance knowledge of students. It organizes Guest Lectures on various topics such as Career guidance, Devaluation of Money, Economic Thoughts of Krantisinh Nana Patil, guidance on Competitive Examinations, Indian Economy Development since Independence, New Farm Bill 2020, and guidance on NET/SET Examinations etc. The main purpose of these activities is to encourage students for interacting with the experts.

National Web-Seminar
The Department of Economics organized National Web-seminar on “Corona Pandemic: Lessons for Indian Economy” on 21st July 2020. The main purpose of this National Web-seminar was to understand the Economic Consequences of Covid-19 Lockdown: Lessons from India’s first wave.
Revised Syllabus Workshop
The Revised syllabus of B.A.III (Paper no. VII and XII) is introduced by Shivaji University, Kolhapur from the academic year 2020-21. The Department of Economics organized Online Workshop in collaboration with Shivaji University Kolhapur on Revised Syllabus of B.A.III Economics (Paper No. VII and XII) on 3rd February 2021. The main objective of this workshop was to provide information to respective faculties regarding syllabus up gradation. It was essential to orient faculties in their respective revised syllabus.

Extension Activities & Best Practices
The Best Practice of the Department of Economics is ‘Discussion on Live Budget. It is mainly organized for the students to acquire knowledge of new reforms in taxes, and provisions in various sectors. The prime objective of this programme was to aware the students about inflation and deflation, thus bringing about economic stability. Since academic year 2017-18 to till 2021-22 department conducted this activity continuously.
The Union Budget is to bring about a rapid and balanced economic growth of our country coupled with social justice and equality. The objective is to ensure efficient allocation of resources, reduce unemployment and poverty level, reduce wealth and income disparities, keep a check on prices and change tax structure.
Study Material & Question Bank
To enhance knowledge of UG and PG student’s department of Economics gives access to departmental library. It provides Study material, question Bank, Online Text Books and Reference Books.
MoU/ Linkages/ Collaborations
The Department of Economics has an MoU with Department of Economics (Chhatrapati Shivaji College, Satara). The prime objective is to enhance the quality of teaching, learning, Exchange of Knowledge and allied various activities in both colleges.
